Your front wheel drive vehicle’s CV Joint Drive Axle system takes the engine’s power through the transmission and sends this power to your front tires. The CV joint lets your wheels turn while still receiving power, but this puts a lot of load on the axle.
The most common problem with axles occurs when the rubber CV boot gets dry and starts to crack. This allows the grease that lubes the joint to leak out. As grease leaks out, the CV joint will start to make clicking noises while turning. Drive train repairs like this usually include replacement of the CV Joint Drive Axle as an assembly.
